Ausgang é uma banda de post-punk/goth rock de Birmingham que iniciou sua trajetória criativa no final de 1982. A formação original era composta por três ex-membros da extinta banda local Kabuki : Max Freeth (vocal), Paul "Cub" Balogh (baixo) e Matthew Amos (guitarra). O quarto membro era o baterista Ian Oakey, também conhecido como "Ibo". O primeiro show do Ausgang aconteceu em setembro de 1983. Em 1984, a banda lançou três singles pela Criminal Damage Records, um dos quais, "Solid Glass Spine", alcançou a 28ª posição na parada indie do Reino Unido. O Ausgang fez diversas turnês, dividindo o palco com bandas como The Cult, The Wonder Stuff e Gene Loves Jezebel. Em 1985, após uma mudança na formação, a banda lançou seu álbum de estreia, "Manipulate": Cub saiu e foi substituído por Stu Smith. Em 1986, os músicos abriram seu próprio selo, mudaram o nome da banda para Ausgang A-Go-Go e se separaram em 1987. Eles se reuniram em 2003 e seu segundo álbum completo, "Licked", foi lançado em 2005.
PS: O Kabuki lançou seu único álbum em 1982, o single "I Am A Horse / My Hair", cujas duas faixas podem ser ouvidas na coletânea "Last Exit... The Best Of Ausgang". A formação original da banda, além de Max Freeth, Paul "Cub" Balogh e Matthew Amos, incluía o vocalista de apoio Jowan, o baterista Mick "Trnytron" Davies e o tecladista Wilz. O material foi gravado em abril de 1982 no Outlaw Studios (Birmingham) e lançado pelo próprio selo dos músicos, Kabaret Noir, em uma edição limitada de 1.000 cópias. Também em 2022, foi lançado o álbum Kabuki / Ausgang - This Was Our Downfall (Early Demos / Rarities), contendo gravações das sessões de demo do Kabuki em 1982 e do Ausgang em 1983.
