Thy Catafalque

Para o fã de avant metal, a chegada de um novo álbum do Thy Catafalque de Tamas Katai é como um parente favorito que vem visitar a cada dois anos. O modelo musical é bem estabelecido: vocais femininos assombrosos, misturas perfeitas de percussão orgânica e sintética, acessos de peso explosivo e pelo menos alguns instrumentos impronunciáveis ​​jogados na mistura.
Muito crédito vai para os regulares como Chris Lyons no violino e as vozes de Martina Horvath e Gabor Veres. Mas é o primeiro plano que dá a cada álbum um sabor especial. Katai encontrou seu nicho ao unir os talentos de diferentes músicos de todo o mundo em cada lançamento, e isso contribui amplamente para a excitação e variação nos discos subsequentes do Catafalque. O álbum número 12 acaba sendo ambicioso até mesmo para um disco do Thy Catafalque, com contribuições de 27 músicos diferentes (sem incluir Tamas) e após um estudo extensivo, percebo que muitos deles não estavam no último (ou em qualquer outro disco).

O instrumental “Vakond” começa com um sintetizador estilo Moog, como um outtake de um álbum do Heep dos anos 70, antes de mudar para uma melodia peculiar que funde elementos folk com brilho de produção futurista e uma série de instrumentos selvagens como o bouzouki, o baglama, o flugelhorn e o trompete. O speedball de mais de 6 minutos “Mindenevö” (Omnívoro) é uma das faixas mais intensas do disco, mudando de canções de ninar folk sonolentas para transições corais sombrias para intensidade de black metal furiosa, uma performance vocal escaldante de Balint Bokodi e leads de shred enlouquecidos do guitarrista brasileiro Breno Machado são elementos-chave nesta faixa colossal.
A música-título é absolutamente linda, decolando em ganchos de guitarra e sintetizador cruzados, o novato Gabor Dudas carregando o dia com uma performance vocal gutural que combina bem com o riff principal arejado, dispersão com leads encharcados de wah.

Honestamente, eu gostei muito mais desse disco do que do Alföld, principalmente por causa dos vocais de death metal em concha tão prevalentes naquele álbum que não funcionaram muito bem. Além disso, há muitas introduções faladas por mulheres dessa vez, das quais, aparentemente, eu gosto bastante. Eu não detectei um mega-esmagador como “Gömböc” do disco do Vadak (embora o corte martelante “Vasgyár” chegue perto – preste atenção na introdução feminina sonhadora de 'apertem os cintos de segurança '). De qualquer forma, a percussão com visão de futuro e a experimentação melódica futurista devem ser o suficiente para manter qualquer fã de metal ousado mais do que satisfeito.
