Gulf Winds é o décimo sétimo álbum de estúdio (e décimo nono no geral) de Joan Baez , lançado em 1976. Foi seu último álbum de material novo para a A&M. Baez declarou em sua autobiografia, And a Voice to Sing With, que a maioria das músicas foi escrita durante uma turnê com a Rolling Thunder Revue com Bob Dylan. "O Brother!" foi uma resposta inteligente à música de Dylan "Oh Sister". Na música-título, uma lembrança autobiográfica de dez minutos de sua infância, Baez se acompanha apenas com seu próprio violão (o resto do álbum apresenta um backup pop/rock padrão de meados dos anos 1970), criando um som que lembra suas primeiras gravações folk puras.
Gulf Winds é o único álbum de Baez sem covers; cada música foi escrita pela própria Baez.
