Ausgang é uma banda de pós-punk/goth rock de Birmingham que iniciou sua espinhosa trajetória criativa no final de 1982. Eram três ex-integrantes da extinta banda local Kabuki : Max Freeth (vocal), Paul "Cub" Balogh (baixo) e Matthew Amos (guitarra). O quarto membro era o baterista Ian Oakey, também conhecido como "Ibo". O Ausgang fez seu primeiro show em setembro de 1983. Em 1984, a banda lançou três singles pela Criminal Damage Records, um dos quais, "Solid Glass Spine", alcançou a 28ª posição na parada indie do Reino Unido. O Ausgang excursionou extensivamente, dividindo o palco com The Cult, The Wonder Stuff e Gene Loves Jezebel. Em 1985, a banda lançou seu álbum de estreia, "Manipulate", tendo conseguido mudar a formação: Cub deixou a banda e Stu Smith assumiu seu lugar. Em 1986, os músicos abriram sua própria gravadora, depois mudaram o nome do grupo para Ausgang A-Go-Go e se separaram em 1987. Em 2003, eles se reuniram e, em 2005, seu segundo álbum completo, "Licked", foi lançado.
PS: O Kabuki lançou seu único lançamento em 1982 - o single "I Am A Horse / My Hair", cujas faixas podem ser ouvidas na coletânea "Last Exit... The Best Of Ausgang". Além de Max Freeth, Paul "Cub" Balogh e Matthew Amos, a formação original da banda incluía o backing vocal Jowan, o baterista Mick "Trnytron" Davies e o tecladista Wilz. O material foi gravado em abril de 1982 no Outlaw Studios (Birmingham) e lançado pelo selo próprio dos músicos, "Kabaret Noir", com tiragem de 1.000 cópias. Também em 2022, foi lançado o disco "Kabuki / Ausgang - This Was Our Downfall (Early Demos / Rarities), contendo gravações das sessões de demonstração do Kabuki em 1982 e do Ausgang em 1983.
