Em 1989, o baixista Ian "Scotty" Scott deixou a banda Hellbastard, notoriamente barulhenta . Mas, após apenas alguns meses sentindo falta dos palcos, ele se juntou à vocalista da Energetic Krusher, Ali Lynn, para formar uma nova banda. Sem hesitar, a banda foi batizada de Hellkrusher. Seu primeiro show aconteceu em 5 de março de 1990, com a formação completada pelos guitarristas Dave Thorburn e Paul Knowles e pelo baterista Steve Wingrove. O álbum de estreia, Wasteland, foi lançado naquele mesmo ano pela RKT Records. Curiosidade: o álbum foi gravado duas vezes: a primeira sessão foi descartada, as músicas foram regravadas e as versões originais ficaram esquecidas em algum arquivo até 2018, quando foram lançadas no CD "Wasteland Unreleased". Ali dissolveu a banda em dezembro de 1991, mas a reformou em 1992. Desta vez, Scotty assumiu a guitarra, Curry (ex-Debauchery) passou para a bateria e Andy Turnbull para o baixo. 1992 provou ser bastante frutífero: uma demo, um EP e o segundo álbum completo, "Buildings For The Rich". Seguiram-se turnês ativas pela Europa e pelos EUA, acompanhadas por uma formação variável. A banda se dissolveu efetivamente em 1995, mas os inquietos Ali e Scotty encontraram novos parceiros (o baixista Rob) e a história continuou. Em dezembro de 1996, gravaram seu terceiro LP, "Doomsday Hour". No início dos anos 2000, o Hellkrusher havia desaparecido novamente do radar, mas em 2007, ressurgiu das cinzas.
